Welcome to LA Kimono Club
Thank you for stopping by our club pages.

First, let me explain how I started to wear Kimono myself. When I was young, I had chance to attend the ceremony of 'Jichinsai 'which is the Shinto ceremony of purifying a building site. Because I am an architect, one of my senior officers recommended me to wear the kimono such as MONTSUKI & HAKAMA to the ceremony . When I moved to U.S.A. I did not have much chances to wear kimono until the year of 1999 when I had to ride on the convertible car in Nisei Week parade as the president of Southern California Japanese Chamber of Commerce. That was a great idea to show "KIMONO" to so many people as heritage of Japanese culture. Kimono coordinator and sensei Fumi Akutagawa helped me to put on kimono. In that event I must have looked very good. Mr.Tsurukame, who is a good friend of mine also got a set of MONTSUKI & HAKAMA style kimono just before he saw me on the day, then we discuss the idea of encouraging more peaple to wear kimono, and to meet at Little Tokyo, downtown, Los Angeles, at 1pm on January 1st. 2000. That was how we started the original "Kimono o kiyou Kai"(Encourage to wear Kimono Club). Please come and join us to be a part of LA KIMONO CLUB member!!
